MONTHLY FIELD LETTERS
DEAR BRETHREN AND SISTERS,
"Did you not die with Christ (the Branch) and pass beyond reach of the elements of this world? Then why behave as though you were still living the life of the world? Why let people dictate to you? 'Do not handle this, do not taste that, do not touch the other'--all of them, things that must perish as soon as they are used? That is merely to follow human injunctions and teaching. True, it has an air of Wisdom, with its forced piety, its self mortification, and its severity to the body; but it is of NO USE AT ALL in COMBATING SENSUALITY.
"Were you not raised to life with Christ? Then aspire to the realm above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God, and let your thoughts dwell on that higher realm, not on this earthly life. I repeat, you died; and now your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, is manifested (through the Holy Spirit), then you too will be manifested (in the Spirit) with Him in Glory.
"Then put to death those parts of you which belong to the earth–fornication, indecency, lust, foul cravings, and RUTHLESS GREED which is nothing less than IDOLATRY. Because of these, God's dreadful judgment is impending; and in the life you once lived these are the ways you yourself have followed. But now you yourselves must lay aside all anger, passion, malice, cursing, filthy talk–have done with them! Stop lying one to another, now that you have discarded the old nature, with its deeds and have put on the new nature, which being constantly renewed' in the image of its creator and brought to know God (more fully)...
"Then put on the garments that suit God's chosen people, His own, HIS beloved; compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience. Be forbearing with one another, and forgiving. Where any of you has cause to complaint: you must forgive us as the Lord forgave you. To crown all, THERE MUST BE LOVE, TO BIND ALL TOGETHER and complete the WHOLE. Let Christ's peace be arbiter in your hearts: to this peace you were called as member of a single body. And be filled with gratitude. Let the MESSAGE of Christ (THE PROMISE OF ANOTHER COMFORTER) dwell among you, in all richness. Instruct and admonish each other with utmost wisdom. Sing thankfully in your hearts to God, with psalm and hymns..... and spiritual songs. Whatever you are doing, whether you speak or act, do everything in the
name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." Col. 3:1-17. THE NEW ENGLISH version."
THE PROMISE OF THE HOLY
"He who believes on me–who clings to, and trusts in, and relies on me–as the scripture has said, out from his INNER MOST BEING SPRINGS and RIVERS of LIVING water shall flow (continuously."–life giving words).
"BUT he was speaking HERE of THE SPIRIT, WHOM those who believed–trusted, had faith–in His word afterward to receive. For the (Holy) Spirit had not yet been given; because Jesus was not yet glorified (raised to honor)." John 7:38,39. THE AMPLIFIED VERSION. He had not yet been inaugurated into His mediatorial kingdom on the Day of Pentecost, when the wave-sheaf in Heaven were crowned at the SAME time the first fruits (120) were crowned with the Spirit on earth–for their ministry to the church for 3 1/2 years AFTER Pentecost to 34 AD–to gather the second fruits in the church.
"Jesus cried, if any one is thirsty let him come to me, WHOSOEVER BELIEVES in me, LET HIM DRINK. As the Scripture says, Streams of living water shall flow OUT from WITHIN him (whosoever drinks). HE WAS SPEAKING OF THE SPIRIT WHICH BELIEVERS IN HIM (her) WOULD RECEIVE LATER; for the spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified." John 7:37,38. The NEW ENGLISH BIBLE. However, Jesus, the WAVESHEAF, had ALREADY received the Holy Spirit and was "anointed" at the Baptism in the River Jordan. Having been filled with the Spirit ALREADY, Jesus was a type of the Wave- Sheaf who are to receive the Pre-pentecostal power of the Spirit BEFORE the first-fruits, the 144,000 receive it on the latter-day Pentecost.
Having received the FULLNESS of the SPIRIT, Christ, the Wave-Sheaf, prophesied of ANOTHER "Comforter to come" in a flood of power upon the first fruits –Living Water, The Spirit, to flow forth to the second fruits of the CHURCH from those individuals who received the power to proclaim the "Special Resurrection" message. "On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If any man is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me," as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from WITHIN HIM. By this HE MEANT the SPIRIT, whom those WHO BELIEVED in HIM were LATER to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given (to anyone but Jesus), since Jesus had not yet been glorified." THE NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION.
From Jesus' lips poured forth the LIVING spoken word, THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY, of "ANOTHER, SOON COMING COMFORTER, The Holy Spirit, who would make living wells of water (the 120) to pour forth His Truth on the Day of Pentecost. Springs gushing forth the glad news of a resurrected Messiah to the Jewish Nation. From Jesus, who was filled already with the fullness of the Holy Spirit (Living Waters) came the promise of ANOTHER COMFORTER who would fill His believers with the SAME Holy Spirit He had–THE "LIVING WATER," the Spirit of prophecy, The testimony–left on record by Jesus; by the Holy Ghost–The Holy Spirit of Promise, The Water of Life everlasting!
"Jesus shouted to the crowds, "If any one is thirsty, let him come unto me and drink. For the Scripture declare that RIVERS of LIVING WATER shall flow from the INMOST BEING of ANYONE WHO BELIEVES in me." HE WAS SPEAKING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, WHO WOULD BE GIVEN TO EVERYONE BELIEVING IN HIM; but the SPIRIT had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet RETURNED TO "HIS GLORY" IN HEAVEN)." THE LIVING BIBLE.
Clearly then, Jesus stood up to ANNOUNCE the COMING of the COMFORTER to the believers, the same ONE (Living Waters) who dwelt In His Temple–THE HOLY SPIRIT, another COMFORTER, to sustain the believers during His absence from them on earth.
"After His resurrection He explained to the disciples in "All the Prophets" the things concerning Himself" Luke 24:27. The Savior had spoken through all the Prophets. "The Spirit of Christ (Spirit of Prophecy) which was in them" (the prophets) "testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. Peter 1:11.
When Sin occurred in Heaven–angels fell. The Spirit of Prophecy–came into effect in the sense as when Adam fell, prophecy came into being. It was GABRIEL the Angel next in rank to the son of God, who came with the divine message to DANIEL. It was Gabriel, HIS ANGEL, whom Christ sent to open the future to the beloved JOHN;...
When Angels fell in heaven Jesus took over the office of the Spirit of Prophecy through "His" Angel, Gabriel. D.A. 235. "The words of the angel, "I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God, show: that He(?) holds a position of high honor in the heavenly courts. When he came with a message to Daniel, he said, There is NONE that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael (Christ) your Prince." D.A. 99; Dan 10:21. Of Gabriel the Saviour speaks in the Revelation, saying that, "HE sent and signified it by His angel unto His servant John." Rev 1:1. And to John the ANGEL declared, I am a fellow servant WITH thee
and with thy brethren, the prophets." D.A. 233, 693, 780, MH 379; Rev 22:9. R.V. ; D.A. 234.
It was Gabriel who strengthened Daniel and John. It was Gabriel who strengthened the Savior of men in the Garden of Gethsemane.
"While He is bowed in lowliness upon the stony ground, suddenly the heavens open, the golden gates of the city of God are thrown wide and a holy radiance descends upon the mount enshrouding the Savior's form. Divinity from within flashes through humanity, and meets the GLORY coming from above. Arising from His prostrate position, Christ stands in godlike majesty. The soul agony is gone. His countenance now shines "AS the sun", and His garments are "white as the light.
"...Jesus was clothed with the light of heaven (of the Angel Gabriel) as He will appear when He shall come the second time without sin unto salvation." Heb 9:28. For He will come in the GLORY (The Shekinah) of His Father WITH the holy angels (His guardian angels and their hosts) Mark 8:38.
"Upon the mount the future kingdom of GLORY (The Shekinah) was represented in miniature, – Christ the King, Moses a representative of the risen saints, and Elijah of the translated ones." P.P. 42-22
"Angels beheld the Saviour's Agony. There was silence in heaven. No harp was touched...the heavens opened, a light shone forth amid the stormy darkness of the crisis hour, and the mighty Angel (Gabriel) who stands in God's presence, occupying the position from which Satan fell, came to the side of Christ. The Angel came not to take the cup from Christ's hands but to strengthen Him to drink it, with assurance of the Father's love. He came to give power to the "divine– human" suppliant. D.A. p. 693. "The disciples... suddenly awakened by the light surrounding the Saviour. They saw the angel bending over their prostrate Master. They saw Him(?) LIFT THE SAVIOUR'S HEAD UPON HIS BOSOM, and point toward heaven. They heard his(?) voice, like sweetest music, speaking words of comfort and hope. The disciples recalled the scene upon the Mount of transfiguration. They remembered the glory that in the temple had encircled Jesus, and the "voice" of God that spoke from the cloud. NOW the SAME GLORY was AGAIN revealed, and they had no further fear for their master. He was under the care of God, a MIGHTY ANGEL (Gabriel), had been sent to protect Him.
"No traces of His recent agony were visible as JESUS stepped forth to meet His betrayer...the ANGEL (Gabriel) who had LATELY MINISTERED to Jesus moved between Him and the mob. A DIVINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED the Saviour's face, and a DOVELIKE, FORM (Holy Spirit) OVERSHADOWED Him (a DOUBLE guard). In the presence of this divine Glory, the murderous throng could not stand...D.A. 694, 5 B.C. p. 1123."
AT THE RESURRECTION
"And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the ANGEL OF THE LORD DESCENDED FROM HEAVEN." Clothed with the panoply of God, this ANGEL LEFT the HEAVENLY COURTS. The bright beams of GOD'S GLORY went before him, and illuminated his pathway. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: and for fear of him the keepers did shake...
"The face they look upon is not the face of a mortal warrior: it is the face of the mightiest of the Lord's host. This Messenger (Gabriel) is he who fills the position from which Satan fell. It is he (?) who on the hills of Bethlehem proclaimed Christ's birth. The earth trembled at his approach, the hosts of darkness flee, and as he (Gabriel) rolls away the stone, heaven seems to come down to earth. The soldiers see his removing the stone as he would a pebble, and HEAR HIM CRY, "SON OF GOD, COME FORTH; THY FATHER CALLS THEE." They see Jesus come forth from the grave, and hear Him proclaim over the rent sepulcher, "I am the resurrection, and the life." As He comes forth in majesty and glory, the angel host bow low in adoration before the Redeemer, and welcome Him with songs of praise."
"...at the resurrection they saw the brightness of angels illuminate the night, and heard the inhabitants of heaven singing with great joy and triumph, Thou hast vanquished Satan and the powers of darkness; Thou hast swallowed up death in Victory!
"The DECREE FROM HEAVEN (The Father) had loosed the captive. "...when the heavenly train was hidden from their view they arose to their feet, and ...made their way to the gate of the garden." D.A. 781.
To recapitulate: "...Satan claimed the Lord's body and set his guard about the tomb, seeking to hold Christ a prisoner. He was bitterly angry when his angels fled at the approach of "the Heavenly Messenger, Gabriel. When he saw Christ come forth in triumph, he knew that his kingdom would have an end, and that he must finally die," D.A. p. 782. When the women came "...A light was shining about the tomb, but the body of Jesus was not there....a young man clothed in "shining garments was sitting by the tomb. It was the angel (Gabriel) who had rolled away the stone. He had taken
the guise of humanity that he might not alarm these friends of Jesus. Yet about him the "light" of the heavenly glory was still shining,...He said, "come see the place where the Lord lay" ...Again they look...again they hear the wonderful news. "ANOTHER angel" in human form is there, and he says, "Why seek ye the living among the dead?"
"...But it was the Saviour's hand that folded each, and laid it in its place. In His sight who guides alike the star and the atom, there is nothing unimportant. Order and perfection are seen in all His work."
"Mary...looking in...saw the TWO angels, one at the head and the other at the foot where Jesus had lain. D.A. 788-90
...THESE ANGELS had been with CHRIST as GUARDIAN angels THROUGHOUT HIS LIFE ON EARTH. (In heaven, as well 4 S.G. p.58) they had witnessed His trial and crucifixion. They had heard His words to His disciples. THIS was shown by THEIR MESSAGE to the disciples, and should have convinced them of its truth. Such words could have come ONLY from the MESSENGERS (two) of THEIR RISEN LORD. D.A. 793.
From evidences already given it is abundantly clear that the angel who rolled away the stone was Gabriel who "came down" from heaven and was joined by "Another", THE ANGEL (Michael) WHO NEVER LEFT JESUS' SIDE throughout all the days of his life on earth," and who WITH his company (of angels) had been keeping guard over the Lord's body in the grave; and who, also, after Gabriel rolled away the stone, entered the tomb and UNBOUND the wrappings from the body of Jesus." D.A. p. 789. By the authority of God's servants, DAN 10:21;4 B.C.p.1173. It is well established that these two angels WERE the HIGHEST"...the most exalted of the ANGEL THRONG," they were the TWO who had come to the tomb at Christ's resurrection and they had been with him through His life on earth." (D.A. p. 831)–Gabriel and Michael. Christ, whose name is Michael LAY IN THE TOMB AFTER THE CRUCIFIXION, but the two highest Archangels, captains of the Lord's host (two), were [ed: illegible content]
grave. Therefore, there is no more confusion as to who is Michael, Christ, and who is Michael, the Archangel, who is ever present with His creator.
"With hands outstretched in blessing, and as if in assurance of His protecting care, He slowly ascended from among them, drawn heavenward by a power stronger than any earthly attraction. As He passed upward, the awstricken disciples looked with straining eyes for the last glimpse of their ascending Lord. A CLOUD (angels) OF GLORY hid Him from their sight; and the words came back to them as the cloudy chariot received Him. Lo, I am with you always, even unto the END of the world.
"While the disciples were still gazing upward, VOICES addressed them which sounded like richest music. They turned, and saw TWO angels in the form of men, one spoke to them saying, "Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in LIKE MANNER as ye have seen Him go into heaven." These angels were of the company that had been waiting in a shining cloud to escort Jesus to His heavenly home.
"The time had come for the heavenly universe to receive their King. Did not the two angels long to join the throng that welcomed Jesus? But in sympathy and love for those whom He had left, they waited to give them comfort. "Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" Heb. 1:14"
"And the angels (two) had assured them that the very One whom they had seen go up into Heaven, would come again even "as He ascended (with the two angels and their hosts). "The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel (Michael) and the trump of God (Gabriel) and the dead in Christ shall RISE." "the Son of Man shall come in HIS GLORY, and ALL THE (Glory of) HOLY ANGELS with Him, THEN shall He sit upon the throne of His glory. Rev 1:7; 1 Thess. 4:16; Matt. 25:31 D.A. p.830-832.
If the two Guardian angels under discussion were "The most exalted of the angel throng, "they were the two who had come to the tomb at Christ's resurrection, and they had been with him throughout his life on earth," D.A. p. 832; and we have positive proof that Gabriel is one of them; then, from the Books of Daniel and John, it is simple to arrive at the identity of the OTHER ONE. Gabriel said, "there is none that holdeth with me...but MICHAEL your prince," Michael carries the same title as His Saviour, Michael (The Christ). Remember the "OTHER angel at the tomb, "Michael, is Christ's personal bodyguard while Gabriel is His
"Voice", in the world, 1 S.M. 409, the Representative of the Father, the "SPIRIT of PROPHECY"–the "Mother" of "all Living."
"Who is "like" God. There are said to be seven intercessory Archangels, i.e., "Chief Angels", Revelation 8:2, who stand before the Throne of God, Luke 1:19, and who have authority over other angels, Rev 12:7. Michael is ONE of the number, and the patron of the Jewish nation before God. Dan. 10:13;12:1. "By the body of Moses," Jude 9, about which the devil disputed with Michael, we may understand his "dead" body, which he (Satan) contended should be buried publicly in pretense of doing honor to Moses; but his intention was to give the Israelites an opportunity of raising his body and worshipping it. But, Michael, knowing his intention, rebuked the devil in the words mentioned by Jude ("The Lord JEHOVAH, The TRINITY Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, rebuke thee); and to prevent the Israelites from committing idolatry, buried Moses' body so privately that none of the Israelites ever knew where his sepulchre was." Concise Dictionary of The Holy Bible, 1838.
THE REST OF THE STORY
The simple truth of this Angel Story, to put it bluntly, is to teach that there are TWO Representatives, one of Christ, and one of Holy Spirit, on earth working together as ONE, to usher in the kingdom of Glory–TWO Inspired Messengers; one with a message about Christ–one with a message about the Holy Spirit, working together as do Michael and Gabriel– EQUAL IN AUTHORITY.
Let us now Praise Elohim AND all Their Holy Angels. Selah!
