That everyone who thirsteth for the truth may obtain it, these publications are, as a Christian service, provided without charge. They levy but one exaction: the soul's obligation to itself to prove all things and hold fast to that which is good. "And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse,
and a Branch shall grow out of his roots. Isa. 11:1"

LESSON NO. 6May 21, 1958
(Revised 1967)

The Family Tree --- Isaiah 11:1

"And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:" Isaiah 11:1.

The prophecy of Isaiah 11:1 was written some three hundred years after David's time, yet the words of the prophecy are written in future tense, hence "there shall come forth a rod".

To show three great divisions of the Genuine Movement – (Life Incidents, 306-307).

1.  Jesse (Stem and Roots) antitype – Miller and White (Rev. 14:6-11) 2.  Rod – Shepherd's Rod and Davidian Movement in antitype fulfilling hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it." Micah 6:9. 3.  Branch – see Isa. 4:2; Zech. 3:8; 6:12.
"To get the proper understanding of the third angel's message, we shall divide it into three periods: (1) Beginning of the proclamation of the true Sabbath, Rev. 14:6-11; (2) Reformation, and sealing of the 144,000, Rev. 7:1-8; (3) The Loud Cry, Rev. 18:1. The truth of the sealing (144,000) being made known, it is evident that we (Davidians) are in the second period. If we had not known the commencement of the third angel's message in its beginning, we would have had no message. Therefore, we must know the time of the last two periods when they came, being of no lesser importance." 1 S.R. 32:2. (See also E.W. 258, 259)

Gem Thought:     Jesus depicted as a green Tree. Luke 23:31.

"By the green tree, Jesus represented Himself, the innocent Redeemer." D.A. 743.

1.  JesseRoots and Stem – Foundation of Tree.

a.  First-day Adventist…..Rev. 14:6-8…..first and second Angel…..William Miller

b.  Seventh-day Adventist…..Rev. 14:9-11…..third Angel…..Ellen Harmon White

These were:

Fused into one – Seventh-day Adventist .... Rev. 14:6-13....Judgment of Dead.

"…work of William Miller (Elijah E.W. 233) and that of Sister White deeply rooted in the 'more sure word of prophecy.'" Tract #6, 69:2. (6th and 9th hours, see Matt. 20:5)

Three in one…..As the third Angel's Message of 1844…..fulfilling period #1, in 1 S.R. 32.

2.  Rod -- Shoots up from the Stem or Stump of Jesse.

a.  Angel from the East -- Rev. 7:1-8 (second period in 1 S.R. 32:2) -- V.T. Houteff antitype of John the Baptist. (U.1 T.G. 42:19:2.)

b.  John -- "Elijah" -- Matt. 17:13.

1.  Last of the Old Testament prophets.

2.  Received no priestly training in Rabbinical schools (D.A. 101:3).

c.  John baptized the Messiah, (Lamb of God) – out of the common order of things not authorized by the Sanhedrin.

"But the work of John was not sufficient to lay the foundation of the Christian church. When he had fulfilled his mission, another work was to be done, which his testimony could not accomplish. His disciples did not understand this. When they saw Christ coming in to take the work, they were jealous and dissatisfied. The same dangers still exist. God calls a man to do a certain work; and when he

Lesson No. 6Page 2

has carried it as far as he is qualified to take it, the Lord brings in others, to carry it still farther. But, like John's disciples, many feel that the success of the work depends on the first laborer." D.A. 181, 182.

d.  V.T. Houteff (Elijah – John, in antitype, U.1 T.G. 42:19:2; 1 T.G.r. 36:4:1) received no training in S.D.A. or other theological schools –

1.  --- Layman Sabbath school teacher.

2.  --- Like John the Baptist he was called as a reformer.

3.  --- And like John, was denounced as false by leaders.

A comparison:

John:  "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." John 1:29.

V.T.H.:  "Who is to bring this...great change? – The BRANCH. 1 T.G.r. 8:24:4.
"…Joshua is in charge, not the angel of Laodicea." Id., para. 3.

"Joshua...(authorizes) his helpers whom the Lord Himself names...Here is seen an organization having a Leader and an under leader – the Lord (BRANCH) and Joshua." 1 T.G.r. 8:26:5.

John:  "He must increase, but I must decrease." D.A., 182, John 3:30.

V.T.H.:  "…this same movement would merge into a greater one." 1 S.R. 234:2.
"…let the Recruiter anoint their eyes...that 'In that day shall the Branch....(God's denomination of today)'." White House Recruiter 53:2.

John's work:        "...not sufficient to lay the foundation of the Christian church. D.A. 181:5.

V.T.H.'s work:     Shepherd's Rod Message: Not sufficient to lay the foundation of the Kingdom Church. (1 T.G.r. 11:10:2; 13:8:0)

For: The BRANCH builds the temple. (Zech. 6:12;Great Controversy, 415:3, A.A. 595:2).

John:    Brought about no purification -- only reform.

V.T.H.:  Brought about no purification -- only reform.

"Church...led and preserved by a prophet, she can continue in no other way from here on." U2 T.G. 26:25:1; (2 T.G.r. 26:23:3).

"Shintoism,…Nothing less than making the dead prophets God's last word." U.2 T.G. 26:24:2; (2 T.G.r. 26:22:0).

"Worshiping the dead prophets and killing the living ones, is a brutal effort to block the progress of Truth, to deceive self and others." 2 T.G.r. 26:23:1.

3.  Branch – grows out of his roots – (Roots of Rod and Jesse).

That is, the Branch message has its roots in both the Rod and S.D.A. Messages and movements.

Branch repeats truths of former messages with the additional truth – the judgment of the living. (Rev. 18:1).

Branch fulfills the third period described in 1 S.R. 32:2, the Loud Cry, first to the church and then to the world.

It is to be expected that the new message will make its way against opposition and will be denounced as false. (General Conference Special 7:2)

Lesson No. 6Page 3

1.  JESSE…..The Stump…..Judgment of the Dead…..Rev. 14:6-11.

a.  Third Angel's Message – Three-fold message – S.D.A. (first, second and third angels, Rev. 14:6-11.)

b.  Three horses (red, speckled, and white, Zech. 1:8, 11, 17, see chart in last month's lessons).

c.  Young man --- Zechariah 2:1, 2.

d.  Eagle – cropped off twigs from cedar of Lebanon and planted it in a fruitful field by great waters and set it as a willow tree – grew – became low spreading vine with roots under him. Eze. 17:1-6. (Cropped suggests first harvest – judgment of the dead)

e.  First lion whelp learned to catch the prey – devoured men – taken captive by Egypt. Eze. 19:1-4 (Read 5 Testimonies, p. 217).

2.  ROD…..Out of the Stump…..Pre-Judgment of the Living…..Rev. 7:1-8.

a.  First Angel's Message repeated, announcing Judgment of the Living. (White House Recruiter 37:1).

b.  Angel ascends from the East – Rev. 7:1-8.

c.  Angel with shepherd's rod in his hand -- talked to Zechariah – Zech. 1:9. (see chart).

d.  Angel that talked with me went forth – Zech. 2:3.

e.  "Another great eagle...this vine did bend her roots toward him,…that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation (reform in the church – water – no harvest)…great waters, that might bring forth branches...bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine." Eze. 17:7, 8.

f.  "Shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither (top of Carmel shall wither – Amos 1:2) in the furrows where it grew." (Eze. 17:10) Pre-judgment of the living.

The symbolism here depicts a church wide, not world wide, movement – it withers where it started -- within the S.D.A. Church.

"And also I have withholden the rain...yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city:...the piece whereupon it rained not withered." Amos 4:7 – Top of Carmel – withered in 1955 -- Davidians admit Latter Rain stopped -- Symbolic Code Vol. 11, No. 1, p. 14 (Nov. 1955).

g. "Now when she saw…her hope was lost, then she took another of her whelps, and made him a young lion." Eze. 19:5.

"…learned to catch the prey,…he knew their desolate palaces, (hunting them out of the rocks and mountains – 1 T.G.r. 9:11:0' V.T.H. Jezreel Letter #4:5; Jer. 16:16).

"…the nations set against him...he was taken in their pit."

"... in chains, and brought him to the king of Babylon:...that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel." Eze. 19:6-9.

This is a figurative prophecy. If it had an application to ancient Israel it has a more direct application to the church at this time. "Satan's snares are laid for us as verily as they were laid for the children of Israel just prior to their entrance into the land of Canaan. We are repeating the history of that people." 5 Testimonies, 160:2.

Lioness -- Millerite.

first lion whelp -- S.D.A. -- "Judah is a lion's whelp" – Gen. 49:9.

second lion whelp -- Davidian S.D.A.

Lesson No. 6Page 4

3.  BRANCH…..Out of the Rod…..Judgment of the Living.....Revelation 18.

a.  Second Angel (Judgment of the Living) descends – (Rev. 18:1).

b.  Man on red horse holding reins – Zech. 1:8, 11, 12, (see chart in last month's lessons on Zech. 1).

c.  "...another angel (message – Branch) went out to meet him (to meet the angel with shepherd's crook that talked with Zechariah and that went forth), And said unto him (said to the angel that talked to Zechariah – Zech. 1:9 – the angel with the shepherd's crook), Run, speak to this young man (Zech. 2:1, 2, – S.D.A. brethren), saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:" Zech. 2:3, 4.

The Davidians (symbolized by the angel holding the shepherd's rod – follow chart on Zech. 1: read Tract #6:61) have been telling the church about the sealing of the 144,000 for over 25 years, and now that it is about time to start sealing the great multitude they are to run, tell the S.D.A.'s about the marking by the Branch and the time of the slaughter by the five men of Ezekiel 9:5, 6. See 3 Testimonies, 266, 267; 5 Testimonies, 211.

There may be some who have not studied "Why Perish" -- Tract #6.

All should weigh the evidence herein presented. There are a number who can see at a glance that it is not the Shepherd's Rod movement that sets up the kingdom. Anyone can readily see that the reins (to set up the kingdom) are not in the hands of that movement (angel with rod, Zech. 1:9), and never have been. Brother V.T. Houteff told us that the Lord did not have the reins to set up the kingdom in his day. – Symbolic Code, Oct.-Dec. 1938. This simply means that the Lord would call someone after Brother V.T. Houteff to set up His Kingdom and to rule for Him. (Tract #8:71).

1.  The man on the red horse has the reins. See chart: 6 Tract, p. 61.

2.  This symbolism depicts another message -- movement after the Rod.

3.  That the man on the red horse is an Angel (Zech. 1:11), which signifies a message.

4.  There are two angels in the entire symbolism, Tract #6:61. The Second Angel (The Branch) is on the red horse.

5.  It is the second angel (Rev. 18:1, 2) that joins the third angel by which the Lord takes the reins in His own hands. See T.M. 59:1; 2 S.R. 231:0.

6.  The symbolism of the Man on the red horse depicts the Branch message- movement.

1.  That angels represent messengers or messages.

2.  The Lord used one messenger (Miller) to announce the Judgment of the Dead (Rev. 14:6-8).

3.  God uses one messenger through whom he unfolds the third Angel's message of Rev. 14:9-11, the judgment of the Dead. See Great Controversy 490.

4.  He uses one messenger for the message of Rev. 14:15 to announce the Judgment of the Living is about to begin. See General Conference Special 41:1, also p. 34, 35.

5.  Consequently, the Lord uses one messenger to reveal and proclaim the message of the Judgment of the Living (Rev. 14:16-18).

6.  The Branch has a chain of prophecy to prove authority to interpret this symbolism. Anyone who attempts to give an explanation of the symbolism of

Lesson No. 6Page 5

the Man on the red horse, other than the interpretation the Branch gives is claiming Inspiration and is, therefore, a false prophet.

Second angel (Zech. 1:11; Zech. 2:3) joins third angel in message to be given to the world. (T.M. 300).

"Christ shall inform His 'citizens' that He is taking 'the reins in His own hands' to set up his kingdom…they, upon hearing the announcement, shall refuse to submit themselves to the one through whom He is to rule." Tract #8:71:1 – "And they all with one consent began to make excuse." Luke 14:18.

NOTE --- The reins are not in the hand of angel with the shepherd's rod in his hand, but rather in the hands of man (the Lord – the BRANCH) on red horse.

This represents a great challenge to S.D.A.'s and Davidians, ("…both the houses of Israel..." Isa. 8:14).

Three-Fold Seal:

(1)  Sabbath seal by S.D.A..

(2)  Kingdom seal by Davidian S.D.A..

(3)  New Name seal by the Branch. (E.W. 15; Rev. 3:12).

EZEKIEL 17:22-24:

Represents second harvest -- Judgment of the Living. "…the Lord GOD;...take of the highest branch of the high cedar (the cedar that came up as a result of the water of the second eagle, verse 7),…I will crop (harvest) off from the top of his young twigs a tender one,…

"In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; (Gentiles grafted into Branch).

"And all the trees of the field (Isa. 2:3; D.A. 583:1) shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree (the tree that came as a result of the labors of the second eagle), have exalted the low tree (low willow tree, verse 5 – third angel's message), have dried up the green tree (Amos 1:2; 4:7 – Davidian movement to the church only), and have made the dry tree to flourish (loud cry of the third angel's message by the 144,000 guiless servants):…"

John baptized Christ. The Rod says the "BRANCH" brings the great change. "And according to Isaiah 11:1 to 5, the Branch is the Lord, the Son of David." 1 T.G.r. 8:24:4. The rod represents David the son of Jesse in the first place and God's word in the second – the Davidian message – a message of David's Kingdom. Therefore, Jesse the stem would represent the father of David and also a message or parent movement – S.D.A..

Likewise, the "BRANCH" would represent Christ, the Son of David. Since Jesse and the rod have double applications, then it is obvious that the Branch means a message that reveals Christ and His Truth – the Word of God. (1 T.G.r. 16:29:1).

"And she had strong rods (strong Scriptures, and princes of the house of David)...that bare rule,...the east wind dried up her fruit: her strong rods were broken and withered; the fire consumed them. And now she is planted in the wilderness,

Lesson No. 6Page 6

in a dry and thirsty ground." (Latter Rain Stopped) Eze. 19:11-13.

"And fire (symbol of the Holy Spirit) is gone out of a rod (a spirit filled message out of one of the members of the house of David out of Davidian S.D.A.)...which hath devoured her fruit,…she hath no strong rod (Scripture or prince) to be a scepter to rule. This is a lamentation,..." Eze. 19:14, (no strong leader now).

The symbolism under observation here depicts in each instance the three great divisions of the genuine S.D.A. movement, all climaxing in the Third, by the revelation of Christ's new name. "Behold, the Bridegroom cometh." This movement is to climax in the revelation to the world that Christ, the hope of glory, has come in the flesh. (Saviours – Obadiah 1:21).

Note: All emphasis in quotations ours.

"The burden of our message is not only the commandments of God (moral law), but the faith of Jesus (ceremonial law). A bright light shines upon our pathway today, and it leads to increased faith in Jesus (The Branch -- Isa. 11:l). We must receive every ray of light, and walk in it, that it may not be our condemnation in the judgment (for the living). Our duties and obligations become more important as we obtain more distinct views of truth. Light makes manifest and reproves the errors that were concealed in darkness; and as light comes, the life and character of men must change correspondingly, to be in harmony with it. Sins that were once sins of ignorance, because of the blindness of the mind, can no more be indulged in without incurring guilt. As increased light is given, men must be reformed, elevated, and refined by it, or they will be more perverse and stubborn than before the light came." Gospel Workers, 162:2. (paren. added)

"Time is fast passing, and men willing to work as Christ worked are needed. It is not enough to live a quiet, prayerful life. Meditation alone will not satisfy the need of the world. Religion is not to be a subjective influence in our lives. We are to be wide-awake, energetic, earnest Christians, filled with a desire to give others the truth." Gospel Workers, 143:5.

Lesson 35PART I --- THE FAMILY TREE --- Isaiah 11:112-9-1967

MEMORY VERSE: "And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots." Isaiah 11:1.

STUDY HELP – Branch Lesson No. 6, May 21, 1958 (attached); Chart on cover of S. S. Lessons.

STUDY AIM: To show that there are three divisions of the great Advent Movement and to point out through Inspiration where they are represented in the prophecy of Isaiah 11:1.

INTRODUCTION: "The Bible portrays a tree that is symbolic of God's true church today. This called the family tree. With the prophetic knowledge of this tree we are able to prove to the world who God's true Israel of today really is. No other church or denomination can lay claim to the distinction of living out the fulfillment of this symbolic prophecy besides the Seventh-day Adventist people. The leaves of this tree are not only for the healing of God's people, but is also healing for the nations." The Healing of the Nations, p. 2.

1.  What symbol did Jesus use to depict Himself? Luke 23:31, D.A. 743.

Note --- "'…if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?' By the green tree, Jesus represented Himself, the innocent Redeemer." D.A. 743.

2.  In the symbolism of Isa. 11:1 what three visible parts of the tree do we find?

3.  What does the stem (Jesse) represent today? Branch Lesson #6, p. 1; Rev. 14:6-11.

4.  Why are the roots and the stem classed together? Branch Lesson #6, p. 1.

Note --- "…the sixth-hour group and message, that of the First-day Adventists, and the ninth-hour group and message, that of the Seventh-day Adventists, fused into one because the message of the former was in itself Divinely designed to bring the message of the latter to light." White House Recruiter 19:3. "…the light of Present Truth now enables the eye to see both the work of William Miller and that of Sister White deeply rooted in the 'more sure word of prophecy'." Tract 6:69.

5.  What was it that sprang from the stem? Isa. 11:1.

6.  Which message is here brought to view? Rev. 7:1-8; Micah 6:9; Branch Lesson #6, p.1.

7.  What type do we find for this message of the angel from the east? Branch Lesson #6, p. 1.

Note --- "Our message (Rod – Rev. 7:1-8) must be as direct as was that of John." General Conference Special 43. "John the Baptist was given a work similar to ours,…" 1 T.G. 42:19. "Therefore the truth stands out boldly that the direct fulfillment of this chapter (Isaiah 40) is found in our time, thus making John's work an ensample of our work – John's work the type, ours the antitype." 1 T.G.r. 36:4:1. (paren. added)

8.  What are some of the outstanding points in the life of John the Baptist? Branch Lesson #6, p. 1, 2.

Note --- "In the natural order of things, the son of Zacharias would have been educated for the priesthood. But the training of the rabbinical schools would have unfitted him for his work. God did not send him to the teachers of theology to learn how to interpret the Scriptures." D.A. 101:3. "…the work of John was not sufficient to lay the foundation of the Christian church. When he had fulfilled his mission, another work was to be done, which his testimony could not accomplish." D.A. 181, 182.

9.  How did the life of V.T. Houteff correspond to that of John the Baptist? Branch Lesson #6, p.2.

10.  What lessons and encouragement did Bro. Houteff draw from the work of John?

Answer --- "...although he had no assurance that he would continue living, yet he (John) heroically finished his work. We cannot afford to do otherwise. Our zeal should be correspondingly greater, for our privileges and promises are greater than were his." 1 T.G. 42:19. "Notwithstanding the peril his life was in, he never allowed truth to languish on his lips. Our work in this age must be as faithfully done,…' – Southern Watchman, March 21, 1905." General Conference Special 43.

Lesson 36PART II --- THE FAMILY TREE --- Isaiah 11:112-16-1967

MEMORY VERSE: "this is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me; for he was before me." John 1:30.

STUDY HELP: Branch Lesson No. 6, May 21, 1958.

STUDY AIM: To make a comparison between the work of V.T. Houteff and the work of John the Baptist, whose work was a type of the Rod message.

INTRODUCTION: "'The work of John the Baptist, and the work of those who in the last days go forth in the spirit and power of Elijah to arouse the people from their apathy, are in many respects the same. His work is a type of the work that must be done in this age. Christ is to come the second time to judge the world in righteousness...' Southern Watchman, March 21, 1905." General Conference Special 43.

1.  Primarily what was John's work and message to do? John 1:29-36

Note --- "…John's work was…to announce the Messiah and the Kingdom that was to have been set up then, had the Jews accepted him (D.A. 135)." Elijah, March 21, 1965, p. 2.

2.  What announcements do we find V.T. Houteff making which compare with John? Branch Lesson #6:2.

Note --- "Who is to bring this revival and reformation, this great change? – The BRANCH. And according to Isaiah 11:1 to 5, the Branch is the Lord, the Son of David'" 1 T.G.r. 8:24.

"Obviously, then, as result of this revival and reformation within the Laodicean church, another church emerges of which Joshua is in charge, not the angel of Laodicea." Id. p. 24.

3.  Having announced Christ, what did John then say must happen? John 3:30.

4.  What counsel does Sr. White give for the work today in regards to this? D.A. 182.

Note --- "The work of God is not to bear the image and superscription of man. From time to time the Lord will bring in different agencies through whom His purpose can best be accomplished. Happy are they who are willing for self to be humbled, saying with John the Baptist, 'He must increase, but I must decrease'." D.A. 182.

5.  How did Bro. Houteff relate himself to this same situation? Branch Lesson #6, p. 2.

Note --- "The wise will...let the Recruiter anoint their eyes so they may see that 'In that day shall the Branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious,…(God's denomination of today)'." White House Recruiter 53.

6.  What was John's work incapable of doing? Branch Lesson #6, p. 2; D.A. 181:5.

7.  Could V.T. Houteff's message lay the foundation of the Kingdom Church? Branch Lesson #6, p. 2.

Note --- "…I cannot say that I have a sufficient knowledge of the Bible to carry me clear inside the pearly gates." 1 T.G.r. 13:8:0. See also 1 T.G.r. 11:10:2.

8.  Whose work was to build the temple? Zech. 6:12; G.C. 4l5, 4l6.

Note --- "The Work of Christ as man's intercessor is presented in that beautiful prophecy of Zechariah concerning him, 'whose name is The Branch.' Says the prophet: 'He shall build the temple of the Lord, and he shall bear the glory,…' By his sacrifice and mediation, Christ (Branch) is both the foundation and the builder of the church of God." G.C. 415, 416.

9.  With these things in mind what counsel must we take to ourselves? Branch Lesson #6, p. 2.

Note --- "...there is no doubt that since the Church from creation till today has been led and preserved by a prophet, she can continue in no other way from here on." 2 T.G. 26 25.

"…you who have not been baptized in the name of the Church, but in the name of Christ through the Truth of the Spirit, you who are not tied to any man, but to Christ, cannot help going on with the Spirit of Prophecy Who unfolds the Truth and names Its people." 2 T.G. 34:25.

Lesson 37PART III --- THE FAMILY TREE --- Isaiah 11:112-23-1967

MEMORY VERSE: "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth." Jer. 23:5.

STUDY AIM: To learn about the third symbol of Isa. 11:1 and to restudy the family tree in the light of some other symbolic prophecies.

INTRODUCTION: "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant (Branch – Matt. 24:32), and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him." Isa. 53:2. (paren. added)

1.  Where does the Branch grow out from in the symbolism of Isa. 11:1? Branch Lesson #6, p. 2.

2.  What does this represent in our time ? Branch Lesson #6, p. 2.

3.  What kind of reception will this new message receive? General Conference Special 7:2.

Note --- "It is therefore only to be expected that the predicted Elijah will be denounced as a false prophet, perhaps even as the anti-Christ (false Branch), or what not." General Conference Special 7:2.

4.  In reviewing Jesse what part of the Judgment do we find he represents? Branch Lesson #6, p. 3.

5.  In Zechariah what symbols are used to depict this part of the family tree? Zech. 1:8, 11, 17; 2:1, 2; Branch Lesson #6, p. 3.

6.  How does Ezekiel picture this same movement in chapter 17:1-6? Branch Lesson #6, p. 3.

Note --- "Sr. White was this great eagle." J.H. Jezreel Letter #1, p. 5. "The great eagles Great Wings in the time of the judgment would be symbolical of the great 'time' truths of the Third Angel's Message." Id. p. 4.

7.  How did the first lion whelp also represent the S.D.A. movement? Eze. 19:1-4; Branch Lesson #6:3.

Note --- "The church has turned back from following Christ her Leader, and is steadily retreating toward Egypt." 5 Testimonies 217. "Just as Israel of old went into literal Egypt, so modern Israel, the church (first lion whelp), has by her practices gone (been snared) into figurative Egypt, the world. (Read Eze. 19:1-4, also Ezekiel 23.)" 11th Hour Extra – Riddle #1, p. 1.

8.  What part of the Judgment messages was fulfilled by the Rod? Branch Lesson #6, p. 3.

9.  What is indicated by the Rod coming from the stump rather than the roots?

Answer --- "There is something peculiar about the family tree prophesied by Isaiah, and that is, the rod came from a stem (stump) and not the roots. This shows that there was a tree which had been cut down before the rod came forth." The Healing of the Nations, p. 7:4.

A similar example is recorded in Dan. 4:10-27. Read Branch Sabbath School Lesson, Vol. 1, No. 1, #46

10.  How did this take place?

Answer --- "…the tree, Jesse, sometime before the rod came out, was cut back. This left only a stump. To make the application in our time: the stem of Jesse represents the S.D.A. church after losing the Spirit of Prophecy, the living voice – Mrs. E.G. White…we have found in our study that the church is symbolized by a green tree, when the living Spirit of Prophecy is guiding her. When the prophet dies, the church is depicted as a stump – a dead tree – until another prophet is raised up;..." The Healing of the Nations, p. 7:5.

11.  In examining the rod what message do we find it repeating? Branch Lesson #6, p. 3.

Note --- "When finally the judgment passes from the dead to the living, thus outmoding by expiration the initial phase of the First Angel's Message (the judgment of the dead), what timely Truth will the church then have for herself and for the world? What, indeed, if she does not now accept and practice the message of very present Truth, the final phase of the First Angel's Message, which is presently announcing the...judgment upon the living,..." Lesson 38PART IV --- THE FAMILY TREE --- Isaiah 11:112-30-1967

MEMORY VERSE: "And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered." Amos 4:7.

STUDY HELP: Branch Lesson No. 6, May 21, 1958.

STUDY AIM: To review the second stage of the family tree (the rod) in the light of other Divinely revealed prophecies.

INTRODUCTION: "After Sr. White's death (in order to revive the church), the Lord sent another message right through the Sabbath School Quarterlies in 1929." The Healing of the Nations, p. 7:8. "The Shepherd's Rod movement was raised up in the midst of the Seventh-day Adventist church to prepare her for the 'Loud Cry.' Contrary to its expectations, this 'high tree' – Davidians – did not finish the work for the church in the world – give the Loud Cry. It cannot, for it withered in the furrows of its plantation – where it grew in the S.D.A. church." J.H. Jezreel Letter #1, p. 6: 1.

1.  In studying Zechariah 1 last month, who did we find was represented by Zechariah and the angel? Zech. 1:9.

Note --- "…the angel represents the Shepherd's Rod message -- new Jerusalem, the Kingdom, and Zechariah represents V.T. Houteff." Branch Lesson #5, p. 2.

2.  Where is the Rod message pictured in chapter 2 of Zechariah? see verse 3.

3.  How does Ezekiel describe this message? Eze 17:7, Branch Lesson #6, p 3.

Note --- "'Another great eagle' – not the eagle of verse 3,…inspiration says he had great wings – not 'long winged'. This suggests a shorter time prophecy (430 Years of Ezekiel 4).…study the time prophecies of Ezekiel 4 and Genesis 15:13 – 1 S.R. 116. Since these prophecies have not been explained by Sr. White, the truth stands out that the 'great wings' (truth) on this great eagle is none other than the Shepherd's Rod Message. The second great eagle represents Bro. Houteff, the one who brought the message." J.H. Jezreel Letter #11, p. 5:14, 15.

4.  When this eagle came what was it that bent towards him? Eze. 17:7.

5.  What did the watering indicate and what was its purpose? Eze. 17:7, 8; Branch Lesson #6, p. 3.

6.  Despite the watering what became of the vine? Eze. 17:9, 10; Branch Lesson #6, p. 3. (see intro)

7.  What prophecies were fulfilled by its withering? Amos 1:2; 4:7; Eze. 19:12.

8.  What did this prove? J.H. Jezreel Letter #1, p. 6.

Note --- "The fact that the plant withered shows outright, that the rain (latter rain of Truth) had stopped (with the death of V.T. Houteff – see Symbolic Code Vol. 11, #1:14:1) and the field was ready to be turned over to the Lord, the harvester." J.H. Jezreel Letter #1, p. 6. (paren. added)

9.  How else did Ezekiel describe this same movement? Eze. 19:5-9.

10.  How did this second lion whelp go about catching the prey? Branch Lesson #6, p. 3.

Note --- "To get this work done we are to be at first the 'many fishers,' then the 'many hunters' (Jer. 16:16)…We are now in the hunting days (learning to catch the prey, and devour men) – going from city to city, from village to village, and from door to door (knew their desolate palaces), a thing which has never before been done." 1 T.G.r. 9:11:0. (paren. ours)

11.  What became of this second lion whelp? Eze. 19:9, see also Nahum 1:14; Isa. 65:15.

12.  What instruction was given Zedekiah concerning the King of Babylon? Jer. 38:17.

Note --- "All Jerusalem needs to do today is – 'If thou (Leaders, Davidians, Zedekiahs at Mt. Carmel Center) wilt assuredly go forth unto the king of Babylon's (Ezek. 24:1-3) princes (of The Branch) then thy soul shall live, and this city (Mt. Carmel Center) shall not be burned with fire (rejected by Holy Spirit) and thou shalt live and thine house.' Jeremiah 38, verse 17." Executive Council Letter #5, p. 3:11.

13.  What did Zedekiah (Davidians – second lion whelp) do and with what result? Jer. 39:1-7.

The enrollment of students of varying age groups in the Business Course which began here at New Mt. Carmel some time ago continues to grow. Should you desire to know how you can enroll please send your enquiries to the office at Rte. 7, Box 471-B, Waco, Tx.

A new holstein cow has been purchased and added to our dairy herd and the night of her arrival she gave birth to a beautiful heifer calf. As our dairy herd continues to grow we can truly praise the Lord for making a way whereby more of His people can have access to pure, fresh milk uncontaminated by the processes and harmful additives used in the milk industry today.

Readers having Seventh-day Adventist or Davidian friends who are showing interest in the message for this time (Judgment of the Living) should send in their names and addresses as soon as possible. This will enable them to receive this very present truth within the privacy of their own homes. It will also mean that the literature can be sent direct to them as soon as it comes off the presses.

Any questions which you may have arising from the study of this lesson or from your contact with others in spreading this message, should be sent in to the office where they can be dealt with by the correspondence department. This will enable believers to give a 'thus saith the Lord' when questioned and will enable all God's people to come to the place where we can all see eye to eye (Isa. 52:8), and all speak the same things.
