MONTHLY FIELD LETTER
FEBRUARY 12, 1986
"And I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
"UNTIL the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most high; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom." Dan 7:21, 22. W.L.F. p. 9:1-3.
"But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.
"And the kingdom and dominion and the greatness, of the kingdom UNDER the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions (tribes) shall serve and obey him." Dan. 7:26, 27.
"Then I heard one saint (angel) speaking and another saint (angel) said unto that certain saint (Palmoni) which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden underfoot?
"And he (Palmoni) said unto me, unto two thousand and three hundred DAYS; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
"And it came to pass, when I, even I, Daniel, had seen the Vision, and sought for the meaning, then behold, there stood before me (one) AS the appearance of a man (not a man).
"And I heard a MAN'S voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, GABRIEL (9:21), make this man (Daniel) to understand the vision." Dan 8:13,14,16; Dan. 8:18; 10:14; Rev.1:1; 1:13; 22:9,10).
In verse thirteen of Daniel eight, first part, is recorded a conversation between TWO holy "Ones", angels, concerning a prophetic event about the NUMBER of DAYS before the sanctuary was to be cleansed of the "abomination that maketh desolate"–"How long?" The name of "that certain saint" is given in Hebrew, PALMONI, a seven letter word, NAME. It means, the "numberer of secrets", or "wonderful numberer" of secrets. So, to Daniel, God's servant, was revealed the Holy Angel, (Chapter 4:13; Ps. 103:20) whose function has to do with numbers. Therefore numbers, and their secret meaning hold an important place in the very words and letters of the Sacred Scripture, and
the, "(a) wonderful numberer", presides over them, and has his place in making known the things of God to His servants the prophets.
Dan. 8:13: In this heavenly conversation between two celestial Beings, "One" asks "another one" speaking, HOW LONG until the sanctuary should be cleansed of its pollution? A certain "holy one" spoke and a certain "Holy One" answered. One would conclude that the "holy one" speaking was talking about the desolation of the temple service in reference to the "DAILY" SACRIFICE (Verse 11).
Dan. 8:16 is the first mentioned name of the angel Gabriel and the "one" who called to him has remained unidentified until now.
Gabriel was not named in 7:16 but appears again in 9:21 to reveal the significance of the seventy weeks; also in Luke 1, announcing the birth of Jesus and John. In Luke 1:19, is he, who stands continually in the presence of God. In the Book of Enoch he is one of the four (of the seven) archangels.
"Holy One", or "Saint", is the common usage to designate "an angel" in the Old Testament Scriptures (Deut. 33:2; Ps. 89:5,7; Zech. 14:5). THE "ONE" THAT SPOKE, PALMONI, IS MENTIONED NO WHERE ELSE AND SEEMS TO BE A CONTRACTION OF THE TWO WORDS USED IN RUTH 4:1; SAM. 21:2; "Kings 6:8; which mean "A CERTAIN UNNAMED ONE"–a particular "ANGELIC PAIR"–as an angel name, Palmoni and used as ONE of the NAMES OF GOD–indicative of two speaking "as ONE"–counsel between the two Angels–"between them BOTH."
It would seem reference is being made to the angelic "pair", Michael and Gabriel who are both named in Chapter ten, Verses 13 and 20.
For the interpretation of Dan. 8:15-25, as in Chapter Seven, it is the celestial being who gives it, for Daniel to record. One of the angels summons Gabriel, the Heavenly Spirit of Prophecy, to reveal prophetically, the meaning of Daniel's visions. Notice the celestial being can take HUMAN FORM. The celestial being, in HUMAN form appeared suddenly to Daniel (Verse 17) who fell on his face in terror of his (Her) awful Majesty (S.L. 51:2) indicating perhaps the Divine PERSON WHOM Gabriel represents (Holy Spirit).
Even so, today, this "wonderful numberer" is being made known to an antitypical Daniel, of the messenger, Viz., Gabriel, the mightiest of the Lord's host.
"It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honor of kings to search out a matter (Prov. 25:2). "The works of the Lord are great: sought out of all them that have pleasure therein." (Ps. 111:2).
These facts concerning the use of numbers in the Bible in the very letters, and the words therein hide God's secrets from the UNBELIEVING and indolent, while they reveal to the searcher and lover of God's truth His secret time.
As to John in the Revelation, so also to Daniel were revealed the three angels conducting the judgment– the TRINITY. Dan. 7:9, 10.
Speaking of Gabriel, "So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said Unto me, understand, O son of man: for at the time of the END shall be the vision.
"And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the LAST END of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be." Dan 8:17,19.
Clearly then, at the "time" of the END "another" like Daniel, the prophet, would understand the things pertaining to the prophecy of the twenty-three hundred "evening, and mornings" of Dan. 8:14 and the related events made known by the TWO "holy ones," one of which was identified to Daniel as Gabriel, in verse sixteen.
Evidently the same setting of the prophecy is being repeated now at the time of the end–the "latter days", verse twenty six:
"And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true, therefore SHUT UP THE VISION; for it shall be for MANY DAYS" (years).
"In the first year of his reign (Darius-the Mede) I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolation of Jerusalem." Dan. 9:2.
"And I prayed unto the Lord my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the Great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep His commandments; Dan. 9:4...Read Verses 5-20.
"Yea, while I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision AT THE BEGINNING, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation (daily sacrifice).
"And he informed me...I am now come forth to give the skill and understanding...therefore understand the matter and consider the vision.
"Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to FINISH the transgression, and TO MAKE AN END of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the "vision and PROPHECY, and to anoint the Most Holy." Dan. 9:21-24. Read verse, 25 and onward.
In chapter ten, in the third year of Cyrus, King of Persia, was revealed to Daniel the identity of the "other saint" of chapter eight verse thirteen. "But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me (Gabriel)...but, Lo, MICHAEL, one of, the chief princes (or the FIRST), came to help me, and I remained there, with the kings of Persia."
"Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I came unto thee? And now will I RETURN to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come. But I will show thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth (strengtheneth himself) with me in these things but Michael your prince. Dan 10:20-21.
The revelation to Daniel of the work of the Trinity in the Judgment of the dead and LIVING, closes with the prophecy of Chapter twelve concerning Michael and Gabriel and their work in the end of the Judicial proceedings. Gabriel Representative of God–Holy Spirit–"the wonderful numberer, Palmoni", gave the NUMBER of days which had been sealed up "till the time of the end of the Judgment, when Michael, "the great prince of thy people," the children of Israel, shall deliver everyone whose name has been put in the Book by the "Holy One", the "wonderful" numberer, (Judges 13:18-20).
"And Manoah said unto the angel of the Lord, what is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honor?
"And the angel of the Lord said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is SECRET? (Wonderful)–margin.
"So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock UNTO THE LORD (for the angel said, I will not eat thy bread...thou must offer it unto the LORD, Verse 16) and THE ANGEL DID WONDROUSLY;..."
For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the "ANGEL OF THE LORD" ascended in the FLAME of the altar." Judges 13:17-20.
"The GLORY of the Lord is (also) represented by the likeness of precious stones and the rainbow ABOVE His JUDICIAL throne reveals His never failing mercy.
"The Lambs presence before the throne assures us that if any man sin, we have an advocate (two) with the Father Jesus Christ the righteous" AND the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:26; 8:34) 1 John 2:1.
"The Lamb's seven horns signify completeness of power and authority, in assurance of which Christ said: all power is given unto me in heaven and earth"...Matt. 28:18.
"The Lamb's seven eyes denote that all things are open and naked unto Him. "Whither", asks the Psalmist, "shall I go from THY SPIRIT? Or whither shall I flee from thy PRESENCE? If I ascend up into heaven", he declares, "Thou art there: if I made my bed in hell, behold thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me...
"Yea the seven symbolical "horns", "eyes", and lamps of fire are indeed "the SEVEN SPIRITS of God", the SPIRITS WORK in ALL PHASES sent forth into all the earth, to give to the saints POWER against the forces of evil, also light on the Gospel of Christ, a Vision of their present state of being and of their future glory, and so on. Hence the Saviour's reassurance, "It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go NOT AWAY, the COMFORTER will not come unto you; "but if I depart, I will send him unto you." John 16:7.
"But the COMFORTER, which is the HOLY GHOST, WHOM the Father will SEND IN MY NAME, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." John 14:26. Plainly, then, whatsoever things INSPIRATION ITSELF does not teach and interpret, are not worth remembering, teaching or even listening to.
"The Lamps of FIRE being SEVEN in number, they, of course, can but represent the EVER-LIVING church (temple, woman) clothed with the light of the WHOLE truth of God–HER teaching present truth to each successive generation since the world began, the truth by which the works of each is searched and judged, each one's righteousness, measured. Rev. 1:20.
"Then for one to reject either the Spirit's power, Vision, LIGHT, is indeed to SIN AGAINST THE HOLY GHOST, and "it shall NOT be to forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come." Matt. 12:32. In the judgment such a one most certainly shall be found wanting.
"As to the sea of glass, in the words of Daniel it is a "fiery stream", where, in the words of John it is the sea of glass mingled with fire." This fiery stream coming from the TEMPORARY judicial throne and the River of Life from the eternal administrative throne (Rev. 72:1), must in some respect represent something that is common to BOTH thrones. And what could it be? – If the river (water) along with the tree of life, is a representation of the ESSENCE which perpetuates life, then the sea (waters) is a representation of life's ETERNAL EXISTENCE, because the "sea" is the storehouse, the SOURCE of ALL waters – it keeps the rivers flowing.
"Fire" is a fitting symbol of LIFE, and "sea" a fitting symbol of eternity, showing that these two, LIFE and ETERNITY, come from God's throne alone.
"Clear as crystal" of course denotes free of all defects. These gifts without which all else is losts, are freely given to all whose sins are washed in the precious blood of the Lamb, the Saviour, the Mediator between God and Men" – with the cleansing power of water, the symbol of the Holy Spirit, ALSO our MEDIATOR between God and Man. (Romans 8:26), 15 Tract – p.p. 30-33.
IN THE BEGINNING
The NAME by which God specially revealed Himself to the Patriarchs, was El-Shaddai (God Almighty; Ex. 6:5). This title is found in Genesis six times and in the rest of the Old Testament only three times, or nine times in all. Nine is the square of THREE, the number of Divine perfection. All through Genesis we notice this Divine Supremacy and Sovereignty especially in the "calling of Abraham (Acts 8:2); Isaac (Gen. 17:18-21); Jacob (Gen. 25:23:48:3); Ephraim (Heb. 11:21).
In Genesis, the FIRST book of the Bible, "THE BEGINNING" of LIFE and PROPHECY (Gen. 3:15), we see the woman's "seed" foretold (male and female). The creation story of Genesis is the "seed" plot of the whole Bible.
We see the suffering of Christ and the resulting glory foreshadowed in Joseph--His death as a substitute foreshadowed in Isaac's ram.
1. I am God Almighty. Heb. El Shaddai, Ex. 6:3, 'and I appeared unto Abraham unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, as GOD ALMIGHTY.' The derivation of the DIVINE NAME, Shaddai, is ...from a root (word) meaning "to heap benefits," and it would often mean "Dispenser of Benefits,"
the FRIEND who shepherds the Patriarchs and preserves them from all harm...Numbers 1:5."
"Of the twenty four proper names (of God)...in three El Shaddai occurs. SHADDAI is usually translated 'ALMIGHTY' and derived from the Heb. root 'to overpower'...and to reconcile persons at enmity with one another.' Shaddai is Light. Shad = Breast.
"12. Ahiezer – 'God is my Rock'. The prince of the tribe of Dan, the son of Ammishaddai, who stood up to help in taking the census of the tribes of the men of war, twenty years old and upwards. Ammishaddai – 'The people of Shaddai; The name, Ahiezer, also means '(The DIVINE) Brother is a help.'"
"In Deut. 6:4 the Hebrew words may be variously rendered, but the quotation of the Lord Jesus, written by the Holy Spirit in the four Gospels, establishes the meaning of the words. In Hebrew the command is, "Hear O Israel, JEHOVAH our ELOHIM, JEHOVAH ONE." The Jews repeat it, "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One," then the congregation repeat the word, "One", for several minutes. Because Elohim is plural is much more the reason to repeat the title several minutes.
The verb which fixes the meaning has been provided, and fixes unconsciously to them the doctrine of the TRINITY, and to those who might think of God as ONLY "ONE" – "The Lord, our God, The Lord, is One–the THREE, Father, Son, and Spirit are ONE. The real sense of the words is "Hear, O Israel, Jehovah (the ever existing one) our Elohim (our Triune God, male– female), JEHOVAH "is one" (as Adam and Eve were ONE). This revelation was ALONE to Israel; none others.
"In Hebrew there are TWO words used for the number, ONE, Echad and Yacheed, "AN ONLY ONE," Yacheed means absolute unity, as ONLY ONE and occurs in the Old Testament twelve times.
"This (Yacheed) is NOT the word meant in Deut 6:4, and never applies to JEHOVAH. It applies to the SON as the only begotten of the Father, NEVER to Jehovah the Triune God. Therefore, in Jude 9, the Arch-angel referred to JEHOVAH"–the 3 who rebuked Satan.
"Echad," one, in Hebrew, means a COMPOUND UNITY– always ONE of OTHERS which make up the ONE.
"For example: "The first day (ONE of seven. Gen. 1:5); Gen. 2:21 "He took ONE of his ribs." (ONE of the others); Gen. 2:24 "They TWO shall be ONE flesh." one WITH the other, ONE–Echad; consequently, when "one" is used TWICE it is translated both ONE and the OTHER–it
is always ONE where there are others. There is also– the plural of "Echad," Echadim (ONES), as in Elohim– "ONES."
"This is the composite rendering in Ezekiel concerning the TWO sticks ("as one" Eze. 37:19); in Ps. 34:20; Gen. 2:24 and Numbers 13:23.
"With these agree the choice of the word "Echad" which is used as "ONE" for Jehovah, Elohim (plural).
Prophecy is spoken by JEHOVAH and the prophets are only instruments or the agents–"Holy men (and women) of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." JEHOVAH (them), Him who existed in eternity PAST and will ever exist in eternity to come. The NAME is the key to the understanding of His "Word," for He has magnified His WORD above all His name (Ps. 138:2). His "Word," in a STILL HIGHER sense, will relate to what WAS, and IS, and is TO COME. For instance, in Revelation we note that Jehovah, Jesus, as the Son of Man, is about to fulfill all His holy promises including His sending ANOTHER COMFORTER (John 16:7; 14:26), even the Holy Ghost...by whom we are sealed unto the day of redemption with the mark of pure truth wrought in us by the power of the Holy Ghost, and carries the same identity, of the ONE Who "was", "is", and "is to come", being ONE of the THREE." (A commentary on the number, ONE). Hence, the WORD, is nothing more or less than the TRINITY speaking to us. S.C. 11:6 p.p. 12-14.
"Let Him who hath "an ear, let...(them) hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.
"And the Spirit and the Bride say, come, let him that heareth say, come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take of the WATER of LIFE freely." Rev. 22.
