What's New?
That everyone who thirsteth for the truth may obtain it, these publications are, as a Christian service, provided without charge. They levy but one exaction: the soul's obligation to itself to prove all things and hold fast to that which is good. The only strings attached to this free proffer are the golden strands of Eden and the crimson cords of Calvary - the ties that bind.

STUDY HELP: The Harvest Feasts, No. 3, Part II, p. 5, 6; Zech. 14:12-21.

STUDY AIM: To understand the importance of keeping the Feast of Tabernacles.

SPECIAL NOTE: "That the obligations of the Decalogue might be more fully understood and enforced, additional precepts were given, illustrating and applying the principles of the ten commandments. These laws were called judgments…they were delivered privately to Moses…Yearly feasts were appointed…THESE LAWS were to be recorded by Moses, and carefully treasured as the foundation of the national law, and, with the ten precepts which they were given to illustrate, the condition of the fulfillment of God's promises to Israel." Note --- "…God surprisingly confuses the wicked that they begin to act like mad men. At the time the Lord brings this to pass, He protects the house of Judah…When the Lord smites the armies of the nations, He also makes the rulers of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood. Thus shall they with the 'everlasting gospel' devour all the heathen round about, and thus shall Jerusalem be inhabited safely by God's faithful people." Timely Greetings, Vol. 1 revised, No. 19, p. 5

"The Lord is going to stir up a scourge according to the slaughter of Midian. One only needs to read about the type of the fall of Assyria recorded in Judges 7. So it will be with the Assyrian." The Fall of Assyria, p. 1:7.

Prophets and Kings, p. 362, 366.

4.  What happens when the "Assyrian" and the "ensign" meet? Isa. 31:8, 9; 10:24-27.

Their souls are unsatisfied: long have they fed on ashes…Although in the depths of heathenism, with no knowledge of the written law of God nor of His Son Jesus, they have revealed in manifold ways the working of a divine power on mind and character…The 'Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world', is shining in his soul; and this Light, if heeded, will guide his feet to the kingdom of God." Note --- "…it is only necessary for those who seek the blessings of his grace to ask in the name of Jesus, pouring forth the heart's desire in penitential prayer. Such prayer will bring before the Lord of Hosts the WOUNDS OF JESUS, and then WILL FLOW FORTH AFRESH the life-giving blood…" Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 411.

8.  When did the cleansing of the sanctuary begin in our time? The Harvest Feasts, No. 8, p. 9, para. 1.

9.  What great prophecy is based on the ceremonial law, showing it still in force? Dan. 8:14.

Note --- "I am asked concerning the law in Galatians. What law is the schoolmaster to bring us to Christ? I answer BOTH THE CEREMONIAL LAW and the moral code of ten commandments." Selected Messages, Book 1, p. 233.

10.  What law was the basis of computation for the ending of the 2300 years in Daniel?

Ans. --- "Under the MOSAIC SYSTEM (Levitical Law) the cleansing of the sanctuary, or the great Day of Atonement, occurred on the tenth day of the seventh Jewish month (Lev. 16:29-34)…The tenth day of the seventh month, the great Day of Atonement, the time of the cleansing of the sanctuary, which in the year 1844 fell upon the twenty-second of October, was regarded as the time of the Lord's coming." Great Controversy, p. 400. (first parentheses ours)

11.  What did Ellen G. White and V.T. Houteff write concerning the time of the judgment of the living?

12.  What happens when the "Judgment for the Living commences"? Amos 3:7.

Ans. --- "When the judgment opened in 1844…the investigation began with the dead, and when that part of the work is finished, then commences the judgment for the living. While the investigation for the congregation of the dead is in progress, there can be no separation among the congregation of the living. But when our High Priest shall begin the atonement for the living, THERE MUST BE A MESSAGE OF PRESENT TRUTH -- sounding of the trumpet...UNLESS THE CLOSE OF THE JUDGMENT

Lesson 25, page 2

"If God so faithfully revealed to the living the commencement of the judgment of the dead, it cannot be possible that He would keep secret the time of the judgment of the living…therefore, a revelation of the judgment for the living is of as great importance as the revelation of the gospel itself. For the judgment (blotting out of sins) is the crowning act in the gospel of Christ." The Shepherd's Rod, Vol. 2, p. 220.

SPECIAL NOTE --- "In 1888, in the General Conference…the angel of Revelation 18 came down to do his work and was ridiculed, criticized, and rejected and when the MESSAGE he brings again will swell into a loud cry, it will be ridiculed…and rejected by the majority." (Ellen G. White – In Taking Up a Reproach) "The eleventh-hour…is…THE HARVEST…" White House Recruiter, p. 40. "…the judgment, is likened to a 'harvest'…" Timely Greetings, Vol. 2 revised, No. 42, p. 31."…time of harvest…period in which the earth is lightened with the glory of the angel (Rev. 18:1)…It commences in the church…" Timely Greetings, Vol. 2 revised, No. 44, p. 32) "The harvest…the purification…" Jezreel Letter, No. 3, p. 1.

Therefore, Rev. 18:1 message otherwise termed (1) eleventh-hour message, (2) harvest, (3) judgment, (4) purification.

"A harvest means…'the gathering of a crop'…The yield is not garnered by turning the field right into the barn…a conglomerate mass instead of a harvest…First the sickle (Eze. 9:4, mark, investigative message) is put to the grain (brethren)…bound…threshed…AFTER which it is put into the barn (Israel): AND THEREAFTER THE CHAFF AND THE TARES ARE DESTROYED (Eze. 9:5, executive judgment)." Tract 3, p. 64, 65 (parentheses ours)

13.  Who brings the judgment, the purification, the 'marking' message, to the church? Zech. 3:8.

Note --- "Who is to bring this revival and reformation, this great change? -- The BRANCH…Here is seen genuine revival and reformation accompanied by the purification of the church…Here is seen an ORGANIZATION having a Leader and an under leader -- the Lord and Joshua…the time of the purification…the Judgment of the Living…is at hand…" Timely Greetings, Vol. 1 revised, No. 8, p. 24-27.

"…Zechariah's vision of Joshua and the Angel applies WITH PECULIAR FORCE to the experience of God's people in the closing up OF THE GREAT DAY OF ATONEMENT." Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 472.

"The work of Christ as man's intercessor is presented in that beautiful prophecy of Zechariah concerning Him 'whose name is the Branch.'" Great Controversy, p. 415.

14.  What happens during the investigative judgment of the living in the church? Eze. 9:3, 4; Answerer Book, No. 2, p. 41; Zech. 3:8-10.

"God's people are judged according to how they relate themselves to the Truth as it is revealed by Inspiration…This rule would apply to us as we relate ourselves to the NEWLY RESTORED FEASTS OF THE CEREMONIAL LAW." God's Holy Feasts, p. 8.

15.  What is Inspiration's decree?

Ans. --- "Therefore, the date set for the atonement of the dead, Oct. 22, 1844 (Great Controversy, p. 400), coincides with the judgment of the living for the church, Oct. 22, 1956 in fulfillment of the prophecies in the book of Ezekiel." Letter to President R.R. Figuhr, No. 2.

16.  What must YOU now QUICKLY do? Nahum 1:15; 1 Cor. 5:7, 8; James 2:10.

Dear Sir:

FESTIVAL OF PURIM --- March 4 and 5, 1969Read Esther 9:20-32

"The trying experiences that came to God's people in the days of Esther were not peculiar to that age alone. The revelator, looking down the ages to the close of time, has declared, 'The dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.' Some who today are living on the earth will see these words fulfilled. The same spirit that in ages past led men to persecute the true church, will in the future lead to the pursuance of a similar course toward those who maintain their loyalty to God. Even now preparations are being made for this last great conflict.

"Satan will arouse indignation against the minority who refuse to accept popular customs and traditions. Men of position and reputation will join with the lawless and the vile to take counsel against the people of God. Wealth, genius, education, will combine to cover them with contempt. Persecuting rulers, ministers, and church-members will conspire against them. With voice and pen, by boasts, threats, and ridicule, they will seek to overthrow their faith. By false representations and angry appeals, men will stir up the passions of the people. Not having a 'Thus saith the Scriptures' to bring against the advocates of the Bible Sabbath, they will resort to oppressive enactments to supply the lack. To secure popularity and patronage, legislators will yield to the demand for Sunday laws. But those who fear God, cannot accept an institution that violates a precept of the Decalogue. On this battle-field will be fought the last great conflict in the controversy between truth and error. AND WE ARE NOT LEFT IN DOUBT AS TO THE ISSUE. TODAY, AS IN THE DAYS OF ESTHER AND MORDECAI, THE LORD WILL VINDICATE HIS TRUTH AND HIS PEOPLE." – Ellen G. White, Prophets and Kings, p. 605, 606.
