"...it was not the will of God that the coming of Christ should be so long delayed and His people should remain so many years in this world of sin and sorrow. But unbelief separated them from God.' G.C., 458." – pp. 17,18.

"Thus the coming of Christ had to be delayed and the church entered into the 'tarrying time.' This also explains the parable of the ten virgins. All went forth to meet the bridegroom, but because He tarried they all slumbered and slept. Scores of statements in the Spirit of Prophecy declare that God's people are asleep, ministers and lay members. To the ten virgins there came an awakening cry, 'Behold, the bridegroom cometh: go ye out to meet him.' All heard the message, but only five, or half of them, made the necessary, preparation to enter into the marriage. At the close of the tarrying time there will be given an awakening message to the Advent people. How sad that many will not heed its warning and make the necessary preparation to enter the kingdom and partake of the marriage supper of the Lamb. The preparation necessary is to accept as a gift and put on the robe of Christ's righteousness." – p. 18.

"The Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy contain as many definite prophecies of a final awakening message age to the remnant of the church just before we reach the promised land, and the success of that message, as they do of the great threefold message itself and its final triumph. In fact, the two are inseparable, for it is the one that gives power and glory to the other. God's last message to the world cannot triumph gloriously till the church is awakened from her slumber and delivered from her Laodicean condition and clothed in the robe of Christ's righteousness." – p. 25.

("...I saw another mighty angel commissioned to descend to the earth, to unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message... The work of this angel comes in at the right time to join in the last great work of the third angel's message, as it swells to a loud cry... This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, joining it as the midnight cry joined the second angel's message in 1844." – E.W. 277) – (parenthesis added)

"Just before the close of probation in the Advent movement a special message will be sent to awaken the church to prepare for the close of human probation in the anti-typical day of atonement." – p. 25.

"When the Advent people are discouraged because the way is long and because of the ravages of sin in our midst, a message will be sent pointing them to Christ and Calvary as the only hope of victory. How cheering that such a message is

now being given... The complete remedy for the Laodicean condition is in beholding Christ at the door with the gold of faith and love, the white robe of His righteousness, and the anointing that restores spiritual discernment, and then invite Him in to cleanse and take possession of the heart. This message is another sure sign that our pilgrimage is about over." – p. 27.

"...at Kadesh-barnea, where Israel lost sight of Christ, their Leader... the Lord refused to permit them to practice circumcision or celebrate the Passover till their wilderness wanderings were over. 'In the rebellion at Kadesh-barnea they had rejected God; and God had, for a time, rejected them. Since, they, had proved unfaithful to His covenant, they were not to receive the sign of the covenant, the rite of circumcision. Their desire to return to the land of slavery had shown them to be unworthy of freedom, and the ordinance of the Passover, instituted to commemorate the deliverance from bondage, was not to be observed.' P.P., 406 (See also Joshua 5.)... The antitype is true to the type." – p. 29.

"The final persecution does not produce the awakening of the church. On the contrary it is the spiritual awakening that arouses Satan to persecute the remnant people of God." – p. 36.

"The cry, 'Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him, should be delayed no longer." – p. 37.

"The events of the yearly-services under the Levitical priesthood were typical of the whole plan of salvation... The antitypical events must come in the exact order of the typical." – p. 40.

"The antitypical day of atonement or judgment began at the close of the 2300 years of Daniel's prophecy and was announced to the world by the great second advent message which was given in trumpet warnings during the ten years preceding 1844. The blowing of trumpets will have another application in God's loud call to repentance that awakens the Laodicean church just before the close of probation. (See Isa. 52:1,2; 58:1; Joel 2:1, 12-32.)" – p. 42.

"As the result of an upper-room experience God's remnant people are sealed for the kingdom... Their names are retained in the Lamb's book of life...' – P.K. 591. When God's people have had every defect of character remedied and the soul temple cleansed of every defilement so that they are without spot... 'then the latter rain will fall upon them as the early rain fell upon the disciples on the day of Pentecost.' – Vol. 5, 124." – pp. 42,43.

"The loud cry calls the remainder of God's people out of Babylon and thus gathers the final gospel harvest, 'a firmament of chosen ones,' 'a great multitude which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues.' NOTE --- "Jehovah alone had brought them deliverance, and to him their hearts were turned in gratitude and faith. Their emotion found utterance in songs of praise. The Spirit of God rested upon Moses and he led the people in a triumphant anthem of thanksgiving... 'Sing ye to Jehovah, for he hath triumphed gloriously.'... 'Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake'." – Patriarchs and Prophets, pages 288,289.

NOTE --- "Only the name Jehovah appears to be His Proper Name... If God's proper name is Jehovah then dare we, His created beings, be so disrespectfully familiar as to address Him by His Proper Name, rather than by one of His titles, God, Lord, Father, Creator, Saviour, etc., when we would not think of indulging the less disrespectful familiarity of addressing our earthly parents by their given names – John... Mary, etc., – in place of their parental titles. Father and Mother? Such irreverance... practiced by enlightened Christians who ought to know better... is inexcusable... As the God–fearing Jews anciently regarded the Divine Name as too sacred for utterance, so should enlightened Christians do today. However, the most ancient and hallowed Hebrew name for God was not only never commonly pronounced, but was even misspelled, in an abbreviated form, that it could not be pronouned; so much so, that the original pronunciation is not known. All we know for sure is the consonant form, Yhwh, Yvh, or Yhv... the translators... therefore, chose to supply... the missing vowels. The first syllabic term upon which there was general agreement was Jah. Other derivatives were supplied by different translators. Yahweh, Yahowah, or Yahovah were formulated to suit certain languaes. The anglicized form evolved as Jehovah. Therefore, any improvised letters that go to make up the ineffable, Name may not actually be the Hebrew word after all!" – "God's Titles Not Restricted To One Language" by V.T. NOTE --- "As we want, more than anything else, to be right in all things, therefore were it a sin to address the Deity in any language other than the Hebrew, we would immediately... change our verbal mode of addressing Him. But as the matter now stands, we are not only unable to share any enthusiasm concerning such an original-name theory, and to accord it any of the truth and worth that some would lead us to believe that it assumes, but also we are more than ever before persuaded not to address the Lord by His proper name. In fact every wide-awake Christian who sincerely serves the Lord, must plainly see that to conform to such a theory, is to cause the saints to insult their Creator... All present truth believers should now see the necessity of shunning every wind of doctrine regardless how plausible or reasonable it might appear to be. Remember the words: 'Behold, those that go toward the north country have quieted My Spirit in the north country.'... Get your doctrine, Brother, Sister, only from the golden bowl..." – Id., pp. 11, 12.

NOTE --- "...the Church at this time... could not logically go by a name other than a name which would befit her present (advanced) phase of the gospel work. Plainly, then, her name must express the truths she advocates." – Id. 24.

NOTE --- "Israel, in the time of harvest, will receive a new name by the mouth of the Lord..." – Shepherd's Rod, Vol. 1, page 233.

"...the 144,000 are the first fruits (Rev. 14:4) of the harvest..." The "separation of the tares from the wheat in the church is to signalize the beginning of the final harvest of earth – the end of the world. Then will have come the time for the denominational name to cease, for all her idols to be cut off, and for a new name (Isa. 62:2) to be given to those who escape. Then will these escaped ones proclaim God's glory and His fame to the Gentiles, and bring out of all nations all their brethren (all that will be saved) to 'the house of the Lord.'..." – Tract No. 14, pages 19,20 (paren. theirs)

NOTE --- " 'A new name.' Indicative of the new experience they, have passed through, which is the separation (harvest)... God Himself with His own mouth gives the name so it can not be counterfeited. The time the name is received is at the end of the 430 year period (1525 + 430 = 1955)... Thus, the church is reorganized under a new name." – Shepherd's Rod, Vol. 1, page 155.

NOTE --- "The old name, being polluted, could no longer be retained. There is no one to go by the old name... The name only remains for a curse." – Id. 155.

"As you know, there are now hundreds of church names in the world, – as many names as there are isms, all of which are named by the mouth of men, although God recognizes but one church. Many of the names even suggest Divine competition. For instance, do not the names, 'Church of Christ,' and 'Church of God,' make Christ and God competitors? Whatever the 'new name' be, it will entirely befit the church in her righteousness as... projected (in Isa. 62:1-3)... Christians are thus bickering and quarreling among themselves, one speaking against the faith of another, and at the same time all are trying to convert to Christ the non-Christian world! What darkness!... The church here projected is to be made up only of a righteous spirit-led people, her new name is doubtless to express this fact." – Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 42, pages 4,5.

NOTE --- "When the judgment of the living (harvest) begins (at the end of the 430 years of Eze. 4)... the cry is made, 'Behold, the Bridegroom cometh...' " – Timely Greetings, Vol. 2, No. 11, page 13.

"The Bridegroom, being a man of sterling morals, introduced Himself to Israel, 1955, by revealing His new name, as any proper man even of the world would do. He woos her by His words of love (message)... then in betrothment she claims His name 'by promise.' Some break the betrothment -- step off the platform, and reject the Man's name... Finally, (the Bridegroom)... takes the 'proven faithful' in marriage, at which time the name becomes hers forevermore. And, of course their children (great multitude) are called... (by the) Father's name (also)." – The New Name --- Isaiah 62:2, April 21, 1958, page 2.

NOTE --- "...you who have not been baptized in the name of the Church, but in the name of Christ through the Truth... you who are not tied to any man, but to Christ, cannot help going on with the Spirit of Prophecy Who unfolds the Truth and names Its people." – 2 T.G. 34:25.

NOTE --- "Israel is spelled with six letters. Had this name been more or less it would spoil the picture. Why? Because the six letters indicate the sixth section. Israel the true (the 144,000) are sealed at the close of the fifth section. Had the name been of seven letters, it would denote 'close of probation' instead of 'beginning of harvest.' Israel, in the time of harvest, will receive a new name by the mouth of the Lord... Whatever the name may be, we are sure it will be perfect, to finish the picture of probationary time, as well as to indicate the end of all the redeemed, or close of probation." – 1 S.R. 33.

NOTE --- "Consider the fact that Isa. 11:1 was proclaimed some three hundred years after David had become king of Israel, and yet Isaiah places the entire

prophey in the future from his time -- (there shall come forth a rod). Therefore, Isaiah must have been referring to these three persons in antitype, pointing out God's true people of today... Since Christ (Immanuel) is a 'type' we are to conclude that the work done in His name, the Branch, is the antitype..." – The Man On The White Horse, page 50.

"...the burden and the ingenuity for building this spiritual temple, (the 144,000) belongs to Him Whose name is 'the BRANCH.' He is to grow out of His place. To Him be the glory. He alone is to be exalted. He is to build the temple of the Lord (in the time of the Judgment of the Living)." – Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No, 8 Revised, page 27.

NOTE --- "Zechariah's vision of Joshua and the Angel applies with peculiar force to the experience of God's people in the closing up of the day of atonement (harvest – Judgment of the Living)." – Testimonies, Vol., 5, p. 472.

"The work of Christ as man's intercessor is presented in that beautiful prophecy of Zechariah concerning Him 'whose name is the Branch'." G.C. 415.

"...how do we know for certain that this message [of the Branch] was planned and recorded especially for the church today? – We know it from the fact that the revelation of these scriptures is now, never before, unveiled and proclaimed. Now its proclamation makes known that the Lord [the Branch] is taking the reins in His Own hands'... that the time of the purification of the church (the Judgment of the Living...) is at hand... that the purified ones, the 144,000 (the wheat) [gathered by Christ Himself – Rev. 14:16]... are to be put in the barn..." – Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 8 Revised, p. 27. NOTE --- "The wise will not let the enemies of Truth fool them. Rather they will... let the Recruiter anoint their eyes that they may see that 'In that day shall the Branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious..." – W.H.R. 53. "Friends, do you not want to be a Branch of the true Vine, Christ, the Branch? Fruit grows on the branches of a tree. Jesus says, 'every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.' John 15:2. If, as Branches, we bring forth the fruits of righteousness in this harvest (judgment) time for the living in the church... Jesus will purge us and we will bring forth more fruit, the great multitude..." – M.W.H. 51,52.

NOTE --- "The first one to be given the garment (of Christ's righteousness) is (antitypical) Joshua, the high priest, the highest official in the church. If he has not the garment, then no one else has it either. From this we see that the genuine revival and reformation starts at the head, not at the feet, and that before one is given the right to put the garment on, his iniquity is taken away – he repents of his sins (overcomes), and the Lord blots them out (in the time of the Judgment of the Living)." – Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 8 rev. p. 23.

NOTE --- "The Lord declares that it is certain He will bring forth His servant the BRANCH, for the BRANCH is engraved (written, Ex. 28:11) in the stone (message) that He laid before Joshua." – The Stone, page 9.

NOTE --- "Verse 14 reveals that Joshua is to pass the crowns on to his helpers whom the Lord Himself names.... What can all this mean? – Just this: Joshua is Heaven's appointed judge, ruler. He himself is crowned as such. And in response to the Lord's Own command, Joshua crowns (authorizes) his helpers whom the Lord Himself names. In other words, as members of 'the house of David,' Joshua authorizes them to engage in the work. So, Joshua is responsible to the Lord, but his helpers are responsible to Joshua. Here is seen an organization having a Leader and an under leader – the Lord and Joshua. Thus it is that whatever is to be bound on earth is also to be bound in Heaven..." – Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 8 Revised, page 26.

"Those who take part in publishing the new name of Jesus... will be ascribing greatness unto our God and speaking forth words of judgment... Publishing the name of the Lord (BRANCH) is our doctrine (and our work)... For many years some (Joshua and his helpers) have been spending their strength and means in an all out effort to point out the wonderful prophecies of the kingdom before the millenium (every man calling his neighbor to his own patch of land, to that which God has pre-ordained that everyone should have.)..." – The Stone, November 24, 1958, pages 10,11.

NOTE --- "Who is to bring this revival and reformation, this great change? – The BRANCH. (Obviously... as a result of this revival and reformation within the Laodicean church, another church emerges of which Joshua is in charge, not the angel of Laodicea. In it there are to be neither 'tares'... 'bad fish'... or 'goats')... Joshua is well instructed that the burden and the ingenuity for building this spiritual temple (the 144,000), belongs to Him Whose name is 'the BRANCH.'... To Him be the glory. He alone is to be exalted." – Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 8 Revised, pages 24,27.

NOTE --- "...if you are aware that your garments are filthy, and your iniquity not blotted out; if you realize that you are to walk in God's ways as He directs through the Joshua of today... you either are, or are beginning to be, a Davidian. If you have not attained to all of these, you should see that you do... then keep advancing in the light (of the Branch), and... you shall... stand on Mt. Zion..." – Id., p. 28.

It is now some time since writing you that I feel I must needs let you know a little of myself once more... I am having a most interesting experience and you may reprint some of the following in the lesson pamphlet news letter as a source of encouragement to the brethren in all lands... The SDA Church at ----- is a very sleepy and indifferent people. The folks are baptized but know not the message as given to SDAs and did not even know that this is the Laodicean church... It has been and still is my privilege to teach the truth as given in 1844 to these dear folks and whilst the Pastor is becoming a little hostile the folks are opening their hearts to words of truth... My privilege too, is to weave "Present Truth" into my studies etc. and this I am doing diligently yet circumspectly. One Brother has told me that from the day I commenced speaking and taking S.S. lessons etc. he knew that I was a man sent of God to reveal Truth to them... The more I visit and talk with SDAs the more I realize just how little is taught them before baptism... One Brother here has asked me to visit with him and his wife to educate them further in the Truth... Surely, the Lord will raise up workers here and there to push on the work of soul ingathering here and in other parts of the harvest-field.

I _______; through the saving health of the Eternal Creator of all things... extend Holy Greetings to the household of Mount Carmel world wide. It has now been a long time since the cord of communication between us have been severed. I did not know that even I was still in mind or known, until the time I have received a letter from one J.P. Hart in June, then in July I had received 3 Branch Sabbath School pamphlets Vol. 4, Nos. 3,4,5, then I was made to understand that some change is wrought or is about to be. I would be thankful for No. 1 and 2 that I have not received. There are some things of interest I have seen in them and so I trust to the Almighty One to lead and direct me as He had ever in the past. There are some questions I am intending to ask, and I trust it will either reunite the long severed cord or to let it be what God will. I learn that there are things at Mount Carmel to be published which are said to be the remaining (writings) of Bro. V.T. Houteff? Is this truth?... Is there anything that had not yet been sent to the DSDAs of 1956 just a little time in that year I was disfellowshipped by those who wanted to take the reins in their hands, from thence the communication link got damaged. Nevertheless I live no more at _________ changed to _________. Let Him of love and mercy bless you and lift up the light of His countenance upon you, be gracious unto you and give you His peace.

I am sure you was thinking that I was not interested anymore in 'The Branch'. But indeed I am. I have been ill and have moved to another location in the city.... The Sabbath School Lessons must have been returned, because I did not receive anymore after I moved... would you see to it that I receive my lessons again, I feel that I am missing so very much... I go to church on Sabbath but I feel lost, I cannot explain the feeling. People seem so cold, uninterested. Pray that I may someday be near some of our people out here belonging to the Branch... A friend of mine, ______ has given me the Vol. 3 – No. 6 of "Branch Sabbath School Lessons," Monthly. After studying this, I would like to become a Subscriber. Can you give me all informations about the "Branch"? What is it? Where are the activities? Is there a missionary organization? And where? Are there any Churches in Indonesia? How long has it been established? You see, so many questions to be answered. I am from origin a Jewess and have been baptized a Christian last year November, 1968. But there are so many things about the Christian religion not yet clear to me. The Holy Bible is not so easy to understand. And I would like to become a good Christian, according to the teachings of our Holy Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Being a foreigner here in this country and married to a Christian Indonesian, I went from Church to Church. Never going to the Indonesian language sermon. Too diffuu1t to understand what is being teached. So I used to go to the English service. But never to religious school. What I know from the Holy Bible is given to me by prayer. I used to pray and ask our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to stand me by with the Holy Spirit, so I can understand what I read in the Holy Book. But this is not all. I need more lectures. More contact with Christian groups. More discussions about this and that theme. Is it possible for you to send me a children's Bible with colored pictures? So I can teach or so to say, read to my children. Actually I am a child in this too. Maybe I can understand it more then? Hoping that you can help me and my children... ANNOUNCEMENTS

The new school year is well under way here at Mt. Carmel. For the first time, the Branch Junior High and Elementary School is using the departmental method of classroom teaching. Eight teachers instruct the enthusiastic students in Bible, Denominational History, Mathematics, English, Spelling, Typing, Cooking, Sewing, Music and Manuel Training. Student interest and learning have greatly accelerated. School books are urgently needed for Grades l9 and we would appreciate those who have text books (especially typing [Gregg], Spirit of Prophecy, and Bible Readings for the Home) sending them to the Branch Elementary School as soon as possible.

This month the dairy herd has increased by the birth of three calves. Also our goat dairy is growing. Two registered Nubians have been brought from Oregon to improve the herd. Orders are coming in from people down-town for the goat milk which is in short supply in this area.

On the opposite page, you will notice the report on the Seventh-day Adventist World Youth Congress held in Zurich, Switzerland last July. Pictured on the left are the three Branch tracts, translated into French and German, which were distributed at the Congress.
